Cool Re: Jerry Doughty wreck

Sorry to hear of the accident and very glad Jerry is okay. Yesterday's monsoon rains hit hard and fast, so one minute you were driving in rain and the next you were driving through standing water, struggling just to see the road and other vehicles.

I got caught in one of yesterday's "toad stranglers" on the 225 freeway through Pasadena, TX and it was hard to see ten feet past the hood because of the heavy rain and tire spray. Passing one semi was very scary because all of a sudden my visibility was zero and it looked like I was under water - and the steering got very light. All you can do at that point is hang on and pray. Fortunately, I didn't hit anything, but I quit passing trucks until the rain got lighter.

That storm front was headed for Louisiana yesterday afternoon, packing a strong punch and lots of liquid.
