Because of the legal stuff they still require a full signature. Drag racing can be dangerous. If they are going to give you a license they want your sig on the release form.

In order to register for an event on-line you need to register your signature with them. That requires having a form notarized and mailed to them first. That could be expanded to the license procedure, too.
