Re: 9X30 Hoosier Radial-8"0r 10" Rim?
On my automatic car, 10" wheels were about 2hundredths quicker, and over 1/2 MPH faster than 8" wheels. Had to use 15/16 psi with the 8" wheels, over 20 with the 10" wheels. I was foot braking back then. It was a street legal with a 383" LT1, running high 9.90s/10.0s. Pretty steady at 1.32/1.34 in 60'.
With 8" wheels the outer 1/2" or so never fuzzed up, didn't look like that part had touched the ground. The car felt more stable with 10" wheels in the 9" tires.
Also experienced "radial wobble" a few times. Putting everything on wider wheels since then. No radial wobble for about ten years now. When I had 10.5" tires, they liked 12" wheels. My present 13" X 31" radials like 14" wheels.
