Default F/SA Mustang

Hey everyone!

My name is Chris and I thought id introduce myself and post a build thread for my mustang. It?s a 70 mustang coupe that I plan to hopefully have on the track for the 2026 season! It?s been an almost 2 year build process. I?ve had the car since high school and I?ve always wanted to get into drag racing so I thought what not better then stock eliminator since its ?budget friendly? (i use the term budget lightly haha). Had it sandblasted and painted, PMR did all the chassis work and currently tony hewes is building me a 351C that should be done by summer! Transmission is up in Washington at A-1 getting the works! Carburetors are being sent out this coming week to be built as i have to run a 4300 autolite. I think i might be able to make it to the Bakersfield divisional this year but might hold off as im thinking about doing Frank Hawley?s to get some seat time in since i have absolutely no idea what im doing but eager to learn and apply it to my program. I?m a young blood and new to this. Looking forward to meeting most of you D7 guys on here soon! I?m still trying to figure out how to upload photos of my build here but i will post some soon.

Cheers!
-Chris Shipman

Chris, when I finished my car I took it to Bakersfield and ran a few of the ANRA races before running the divisional. The entry fee is only $100 at the gate (no memberships required) it gets you some seat time and tuning before diving in at the divisional.
I’d still bring it out, I did that last year and the two grade points got me into this year’s Winternationals. I think the stock racers are probably some of the nicest guys at the track and would be more than helpful with answering any questions and getting you through the procedures running a class car.

Not a bad idea and definitely will save me some money for some seat time! If that?s the case hopefully I?ll be able to make the Bakersfield divisional this year for some grade points.

Chris, your car is beautiful. I have a question since I am not familiar with mustangs. The trunk picture there is a lump over the rear end center section, is that stock or added?

TY

Thank you sir! And yes the floor pan is stock but im not sure either. I?m going to go ahead and assume that it?s maybe space for the rear end in case the suspension bottoms out for some reason.
