Default Sherman lifter questions

I`m finally getting ready to install a used set of Sherman hyd. roller lifters I bought a couple of years ago, into my 5.0 Mustang Stocker. I have heard that I need to run a couple of thousands valve lash by some people, others say zero lash, somebody else said to run a couple thou of pre load. Needless to say, I`m a bit confused. I`d like to hear what some people that have actually ran the Sherman lifters have to say. Thanks.

May I suggest that you call Sherman and get the real scoop, because you would be supprised at the people who really don't understand how to adjust them.

Good luck, Rich

Rory, are you sure you want to put in "used" lifters? Unless you're installing the matching camshaft I thought it was a no no.

Jody, my Mustang uses a hydraulic roller cam, so there should be no issues there. By the way, congrats on yet another win in Spokane, not a bad year so far, eh?

Rory, these lifters are top notch and do just as Cliff says. Call Cliff, he will walk you through any questions. I have them in my engine and have had no issues at all. I have run .000 all the way to .006, mine seems to like them a little tighter. Good Luck....

I have heard 0-.006 on the lash also. I shimmed a new set of OEM lifters to .010 travel and set a .004 lash. Seem to be ok although I am still in R&D. I would love to hear about lash or no lash also........

So Rory,,,,,,,, What'll it be? Seattle with the Mustang? Or Bremerton with the BC Supershifters and possibly the Fairmont? Inquiring minds want to know,,,,,,,,, either way I'll come over and say Hi.
