What helmet is legal this year.
I've got an M2000. Headed to Gators in a few weeks.

The 2000 series helmets are good for 2011.Next year 2005 starts as mandatory.And get a good SA2005.Your head will thank you.

Ed is correct. I still have a SA2000 and was told at Gainesville it will be good through the end of the year. Jim

I think the 05`s expire in 2014. Get the latest design you can get to last you longer. Helmet`s are too expensive to "expire" in a few years!

Call Kyle at HelmetCity. He can set up with a great helmet. I recommend an SA over an M. Liner is made of different materials.

Per the rulebook:

SA 2000 expires 1/1/2012
SA 2005 expires 1/1/2017
SA 2010 expires 1/1/2022

M helmets have nylon interiors
SA helmets have nomex fire resistant interiors

Per the Snell website, SA are also designed for repeated impacts.

Good deals on 2005 helmets right now, almost half the price of 2010

Of course, 2005 helmets are good only about half as long as 2010. Other criteria are good snug but not tight fit, size of the window, especially if you wear glasses. The Bell S2r or SR Pro fits my bean. I test fit it at SEMA before buying. Different brands seem to fit different shape heads.
