I recently moved to Delaware and am in the process of registering my motorhome. They want me to pay 3.75% of the value of the M/H as a "document fee" which would be approx. 4K. It is essentially a sales tax which I already paid in NJ. Is there anyway to avoid this?

Is that a one-time fee? Here in Virginia you pay a fee to title the vehicle initially and a twice-yearly "Personal Property Tax" based on the assessed valuation of the vehicle. Most states have had to become more "creative" in how they raise revenue! No state sales tax in Delaware either.

Sorry I don’t know. Just know some that are tagged in Montana. I like most have our trailers tagged through Maine. Maybe different with insurance. I still have property in Maryland. That’s where I tag my vehicles. My insurance on 4 vehicles is less than my wife’s one in Delaware plus I don’t have to get inspections Every 2-3 years
