Alternative source for Sunnen Hone shims??
So, I would like to get a few more Sunnen CK10 hone shims in various sizes. My jaw hit the floor when I got the prices from Sunnen. At this point I will probably just make them, but there has to be an aftermarket supplier who makes these?? Tried Woodward, Goodson, and a few others already..
Anybody know of a source? |

Re: Alternative source for Sunnen Hone shims??
Give Rick Morris a call, he makes thick shims if that helps and may have the thinner ones for sale used. Rick has restored many CKs and got me my first CK which I renovated with his help over the phone. https://www.rickmorrisequipment.com/collections/all

Re: Alternative source for Sunnen Hone shims??
It may be a long shot, but Tennessee Abrasive may have something.
As tooling and consumables continue to be ridiculously overpriced even used and difficult to source, a small surface grinder can be very useful to have on hand. You can knock those shims out on the Bridgeport and get the thicknesses perfect on the surface grinder with a magnetic chuck. Same goes for parallels and other shop made tooling. Good luck.
