In the unfortunate accident of Mark Niver that happened right in front of our pits, we witnessed how quickly the safety safari got to the racer in the sandtrap with the proper tools to remove him from the damaged racecar. While all the safety safari crew were in the process of removing him from the car, Danny and the tech dept was there taking pictures and inspecting the car to determine what went wrong. It appeared the parachute came off and all he had was his brakes to stop him. When the racer was ready to be removed from the cutaway car, Danny helped to carry him to the waiting ambulance.

It was a terrible accident, but it is comforting to know that there are trained professionals there to come to our aid if necessary. The tech dept. was there to investigate and improve future safety.

Whenever you see those people in action, it makes you appreciate them even more.
