The City of Sioux City, Iowa and it's Downtown partners are having their first "Rock N Rods" weekend July 15-17. Car shows, swap meet, and also drag racing!
Starting tonight (July 15th) the city is closing part of the downtown area and putting up cement barricades for the makeshift drag strip. The drag strip will be close to 1/8th mile long with another 1/6th mile of shutdown. There are pretty good rules (yes, there is a tech) and no cars quicker than 6.4 secs in the 1/8th. Anyway, it's nice to see a city trying something new to help support drag racing. They already have over 300 racers pre-registered. That's impressive considering there is a $65 pre-registration fee ($100 registration fee the day of). There are a couple drag racers that are going to make exhibition burnouts (maybe a few Stock/SS guys). We are not taking any of our 3 cars because they don't have enough room for a toterhome and stacker trailer. So, we'll go watch and help support the cause. If you're going to be anywhere near Sioux City, IA this weekend, maybe you could stop on by and check it out. I hope everything runs smooth and there are no incidents. Here is their website http://www.siouxcityrocknrods.org/ Here's a newspaper article descibing everything http://siouxcityjournal.com/entertai...99b8ba194.html. Thanks, Brad Rose Rose Racing |
