Hey Guys,
I've been trying to find a 5.00 or 5.13 pro gear with a 35 spline pinion for a 9" but it seems that the 35 spline pinions stop at a 4.86. Any ideas?

Nobody?? So all these stock and super stockers running anything deeper than a 4.86 are running a 28 spline pinion?

I have a good used set of 4.86 pro gears, 35 spline pinion if you want to try that ratio. I don't know of any big pinion gears higher numerically than 4.86. Stockers have to run 28 spline pinions.

Ran 28 spline in 7 second altered stick car. Run it in my 3000 lb. SS car now no problems. Most 35 spline stuff I do is for Top Sportsman cars and in the 3.00's to 4.00's ratio. Joe

3:40-4:86 that's it nothing higher or lower per Richmond/strange/MW unless some one is making it and it's a new product just out

I don't know who makes them ,but Garrett Livingston @ Garrett's Race Cars told my Dad you can get them, but they are supposed to be around $2000.00 a set.

Thanks for the offer but that's what we are running now and I'm wanting to try a 5.00 or 5.13 in the future but I really didn't want to go back to a 28 spline to do it. So everybody that is running anything deeper than a 4.86 is running a 28 spline pinion????

Kris, that would seem to be the case, I've done quite a few 28 spline gears for S/S cars from my 6 cyl. up to a few B/ Modifieds. Never had an issue with the smaller pinion diameter. Not sure of your application but unless you're trying to rotate the earth with it you'll be fine with the 28 spline. Joe I may have a used 5.13 you could try if you're interested let me know

Thanks for the replies guys. The problem is, is that we've broke a lot of gears in the past as well as breaking the pinion in two. BUT I just realized these were all street gears. So maybe the 28 spline pro gear will hold up. Thanks for the offer on the gears but I'm at least a year from needing them. I'm just trying to think ahead. Joe, the application is a 3800# stocker that my dad used to race back in the 70's and 80's and I've been bracket racing it for the past 16-17 years. Its a 69 Fairlane Cobra 428CJ 4 speed car. I'm going to be putting it back as a stocker and I know that I'm going to be needing the 5.00 or 5.13 gear to make it go.

The only thing out there with a big pinion in that ratio is a ten inch gear Tom's gears makes. All the 1/8 mile promods run them. They come in 5.00 and 5.14 require a big bearing case and a spacer under the pinion support. Also mark williams makes a 32 spline gear alot of the pro stock guy run but requires more special parts to make work. Good luck. Forgot Tom's 10 inch gear is $1200.00 a set.
