Nope. Has to have a correct engine according to the Classification Guide.
IHRA and whatever independent associations allow them. If the body/chassis is right, and the price is right, and you like the car, you could always put a legal engine in it. |

Not sure where you want to race..Division 2 allows ihra crate motors to race at their d2 opens.. In Ohio we have the buckeye stock super stock association. (10 races this year). Crate motors and pure stocks are welcome. Also the great lake stock super stock has several races in Michigan.. Milan dragway has combo races once a month on sundays. The new ihra schedule is out. I spoke to Doug Foley he stated crate motors will be part of the stock eliminator this year. I have raced my 71 dodge demon for 20 years in crate motor.(Ihra nmca and several different associations)..

Not in NHRA but as others have said there is other options. If you want to run the NHRA divisional and national events it has to be a conventional stock eliminator legal car.

I like the crate motor classes. When IHRA had a good presence in Texas, I raced a Monte Carlo in I/CM with a 300-horse 350 using a Holley 750. It was a lot of fun, relatively inexpensive, and created great memories.

Also, the Chevy 330/350 with vortec heads is a good runner.

If you buy a crate motor car you are going to end up how everyone else did and pigeon hole yourself . With a traditional stocker you are going to be able to run NHRA and now hopefully IHRA and any combo around . NHRA stuff is going to be out of the question we have to many classes in Stock and SS as it is
