In the past I have used R&L Carriers for engines and transmissions with good luck. I did dock to dock. Shipper delivered th shipment to the dock and I picked up the shipment at their terminal closest to my house. It was a little less expensive that way. Any of the LTL freight companies can provide the service.

We recently used ABF to ship a transmission and they were great. Dropped off and picked up at the terminals. Price was reasonable and got here quickly.

Any LTL freight company can do this, Old Dominion, R&L, ABF, UPS Freight can all do it. See who is near you and near where it's going if you want to do terminal drop off and pick up, if not they will do door to door for more money, Packing it good is all on you and the better job you do the better your chances of no damage. I don't know if they still do it but Fastenal used to offer shipping from store to store, I had front end parts shipped through them years back.

I have had good luck with Old Dominion and Fedex freight.
I have never used the Fastenal store to store service but I have heard good things. |

Fastenal is the way to go. I ship my transmissions all the time with them and it's usually about $200 to go from Michigan to Maryland.

I used Forward Air to ship a complete engine from Calif. to Florida. I mounted the engine to a sturdy wood pallet and then built a reinforced plywood box around it. Empty all fluids and use this side up stickers. by all means add insurance.

Fastenal is reasonable but the country is in 2 halves east and west. The line is around Texas, OK, Nebraska. Its funny they do that.
