Default Front brakes 65 -70 Chevrolet full size

Is there a swap to use a spindle off a car that can be used to get a decent front brake set up for a 1965 Chevrolet Biscayne? It appears there is no good aftermarket brakes for the car.

thanks in advance for the help

Paul, Wilwood does make several disc kits for the Impala, although they are all vented rotor style . I put a set of their Dynalite Pro 11" brakes on a friends '67 Biscayne . .total bolt on .
The only down side for racing is the slightly heavier rotor which is .13/16" wide instead of 3/8" might be a good thing on a 3800 pound car having the vented rotors

Paul I bought a bolt on lightweight front brake kit from aerospace 10 years ago for my 67 . If I remember correctly it was the same as an early sixties corvette . it fit the drum brake front spindles perfectly.

Hi Paul. I swapped in a complete ‘70 Impala front disc brake setup with the single piston calliper on my ‘65 Impala for everyday street driving years ago. It’s a direct bolt in. It made a huge difference in braking control over the darty drum brakes.

If you are looking for a light weight race set up, Mark Williams should be able to help you. The spindles are essentially the same as a C 2 and C 3 Corvette. ‘68 and earlier use the smaller drum brake bearings, so you can use your ‘65 spindles. They don’t list the early, small bearing Corvette brakes in their catalog but they have everything to make up a kit. The Corvette parts will physically fit, but confirm with them that their brakes will work for the weight and application you have planned. The MW kit may also require machining the anchor bolt boss. They can do that for you.

Use your original 65 Chevy spindle and get 70 Chevelle Stock GM rotors and bearings, grease seal ,stock castle nut --- washer/cotter pin and 70 Camaro Stock GM calipers left and right and stock GM pads will work --Stock GM camaro brake hoses proper length of course --you will have to get the correct lug bolts of course-you will have to get the caliper mounting brackets on line several companies have them--- gives you stock ride height not a lowered spindle--you want to do anything else thats on you like lightened stuff etc. ---My grandson did this on a 66 Impala so it should work on a 65-- not sure where he got the brackets from but will ask him--- ONLY 15 inch or larger wheels will work NO 14 inch wheel will fit----FED 387

Cool Re: Front brakes 65 -70 Chevrolet full size

A wise old geezer who does cars left a famous quote- "If you start with a big enough pile of parts, you can build anything."Now.How about a '69 or a 70 B body front brake set up. Didn't a lot of those have front disc brakes as an option? If so, it probably would be a bolt on since the '65 through 70 B body cars were pretty much the same. I seem to remember that those front rotors were pretty heavy.
