Best transmission shield for G-Body
I need to install a transmission shield on my 1986 Monte Carlo for next season. I'm curious if anyone could give me some feed back on which manufacturer(s) makes one for a T350 that fits well under the stock floor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Patrick. |

Re: Best transmission shield for G-Body
We fit the CSR Super Shields 833 without modification, on the Malibu. Piece of mind, yes, but expensive!

You will spend the most time fitting the CSR shield to the transmission . Most of the extra lugs and bumps need to be removed from the case . Good product though , and you get a flexplate shield too .

How do you get the CSR shield to clear the vent tube? I've trimmed the case but they didn't leave any room for the vent. I've tried putting one on my 3rd gen Camaro but it's too tight at the bellhousing to floor area.

You might be able to plug the original vent , and relocate it to the extension housing .

Re: Best transmission shield for G-Body
Sorry I don't know the manufacture of mine but it is the5 sided aluminum style with metal straps holding it in place. Plenty of room with 350. Currently have a 400 in car and its a little tight but not a problem. The tunnels to me are decent in size. Just looked on Hughes Transmission website and they have 1 part #HP9750. That's the one I had with 350 trans

Re: Best transmission shield for G-Body
That's what we did, then put an ATI overflow can on it.
