Cam I.D. help needed
Anyone know the specs of the following cam? It's an older SBC Super Stock cam.
Comp Cams 4484/312-8 R6 Grind number R 7305 Comp was no help. Thanks in advance.

Don't know what you are looking for. This is from an older Comp Cams Master List I have.

Re: Cam I.D. help needed
Stan had the intake correct, high ratio, high RPM Super stock, using 1.8 - 2.0 rocker.
The 312-8 is a High torque .440 lobe, 312 adv., 284 @.050, 1.5 through 1.7 rocker ratio. And you probably know it was ground on a 106 lobe separation. Phil

No, I don't have any idea on lash settings. But remember lash will depend / change based on what rocker arm ratio you are using. Stan PS - I found this. It might be a good starting point Last edited by Stan Weiss; 03-18-2021 at 01:34 PM. |

Re: Cam I.D. help needed
My best advice is find a racer / machine shop with a Cam Doctor and have them spin it! There won't be any guessing then. I check my new cams just to be sure. Or get your dial indicator and degree wheel out ,stick it in a block with a rotating assembly in it , grab a cup of coffee and start measuring.

Re: Cam I.D. help needed
I am surprised that they couldnt look up the R7305 and tell you what it is ? They looked up a cam for me a few months ago that was from 1980.
