Default 1969 mustang. Need help with class options. Stock? Gt?

I have a 69 coupe. I determined that my 351w isn't a great combo, probably not the 302 2bbl that would be m stock either. And I don't want to mess with 428s either. I do not know a whole lot about super stock gt, but can I use a newer 302 for example with my weight and use that? What if its a 80s fuel injection engine? Does it need to use original style induction, ? Gt fi? I'm just trying to find a direction. Thanks.

I would look at GT with the 352CJ set up from 2010.

Isn't that a 302 based pushrod engine?

There are more options with a 70 mustang, 351c with autolite carb is a possibility. You have to decide if it is stock or super stock. Gt is only in super stock. It is not hard to make a 69 into a 70.

Your options to run GT are wide open. You should go onto classracerinfo.com, and start playing around with engine combos. Dickie Lux is running the 352 pushrod engine from the 2010 Mustang Cobrajet in his car, looks like a pretty good modern combo. Duane Eiskant is running the 73 351c combo in his 85 mustang. Other factors to consider are wether you have or want to put a cage in the car. Thay may limit you on what you want to run.

Good luck and have fun

I believe that you are talking about the black 69 Mustang notchback, that belongs to Darrell Dietz, from Alberta Canada. I believe it used to be ran with a 428 Cobra Jet in Super Stock, but now runs in SS Factory GT, with a late model DOHC Cobra Jet engine.
