Atlanta/Southern Nationals, A Friendly Reminder
Just a reminder to everyone headed to Commerce this weekend,PLEASE LOCK YOUR RIGS!
If you have been there in the past you know what I'm talking about, and if you are new to that track you want to lock up stuff, especially when everyone is in the staging lanes and on the track. The track has a notorious history of racers getting pretty much anything stolen that people can get their hands on. Just because you might be watching out for who is pitted near you doesnt mean they can do the same. I look forward to seeing a bunch of y'all this weekend....I'll most likely be working the turnaround doing fires....so hopefully I won't have much to do other than watch you people race! (and thank goodness for no Alcohol cars!) -Karen |

Re: Atlanta/Southern Nationals, A Friendly Reminder
Quite possibly the best advice given on this site in recent history. Someone we know personally has been robbed at every race we've attended at the Atlanta track in the last 4-5 years. If you're not going to be in or at your rig, lock it all. It's a damned crying shame to have to say that, but it is a fact.

I too had a friend get robbed last year while they were out on the track. Wallets were stolen out of a motorhome and pretty much used immediately all over Commerce and elsewhere at Walmart, etc. Albeit a good time, I dont want to go to anymore BBQ's trackside to raise money for racers that were robbed. |

I guess thats why my new fire pants have a back pocket.
I was there at the divisional last Sept. They announced several racers got hit. Chip Johnson |

Re: Atlanta/Southern Nationals, A Friendly Reminder
The only time I have ever had anything stolen at a race was at Atlanta. It was a small Honda generator that was sitting on my trailer. In 1982! I lock my stuff, including my motorhome (even though I have a fierce guard dog inside) just about everywhere I go now. Jim
Not everyone can afford to hire Roy Hill to guard their trailer! .
