80 and 84 is the only year, now. It used to be 84 and 85. You can cheaply update the car, and not catch any flack about it, from tech or racers.

I'm looking at buying an 81 and want to run a 305. Do you you know what I would have to change to claim it as an 84? Thanks

We have an 84 w/305 ready to go racing. Legal NHRA/IHRA car. Listed in the classified as well as on racingjunk.com. You couldn't build one for the price either as a roller or complete.

I wouldn't think you would have to change anything but the grill if that! the 81-86 all look alike to me.
