Crossmember modification?
Hi,
Building a 89 Mustang. I know that in SS/GT and Modified classes you can remove the center part of the front crossmember and then mount the steering rack on a new round tube crossmember. Does that mean I can also cut off the factory engine mount stands that are welded to the part of the crossmember that remains? Would seem to be reasonable but then again...................... Thanks. Re: Crossmember modification?
I'll assume you're refering to the K- member? I was told that you can do what you want to it as long as it WAS an original factory K-member, this was told top me by NHRA official at tha track. Don't recall his name though, as with most grey areas your best bet is to call NHRA. Joe

Re: Crossmember modification?
Thanks Joe. That was also my understanding but I wanted to get a opinion from someone "in the field" so to speak! NHRA opinions seem to vary......................
