Default Anybody know my car?

I purchased a 72 Buick GS 455 that is a G/SA car earlier this year. This is my first venture into stock racing (I am only 19). Gran Sports have been in my family for 30 years and I now have one to call my own. Im looking for more info on the car. It came from Texas and into the Mid-West. I purchased it from a great gentleman from Illinois who put a fresh motor in the car because he bought it with a blown motor. The car has Division 3 participant stickers from 2003 and a weight sticker (3850#) on the passenger side window. It really seems like its been a stocker for a long time. Have reciepts for the motor from Gary Herche and Chenoweth Machine. Anyone knows info or who's it was?

Thanks, Ron Kaczmarek

Don't know a thing about your car Ron, but congratulations on the purchase. At 19 years old, you should be very proud of yourself for being able to make such a purchase. I look forward to watching you compete at the local WNY tracks now and for a long time to come.

Good luck finding out more information about your car, and in the 2012 racing season.

Question Re: Anybody know my car?

* The person you bought it from couldn't provide a name who he bought it from?

* Do the motor reciepts have a recognizable signature? Perhaps you could call the machine shop.

* Any participant decals have the track name/location that was attended? You could go to Div. 3 national/divisional qualifying sheets on www.dragracecentral.com and look for '72 Buick GS qualifiers to sort through. Maybe try some NHRA Div. 4 races also from back then.

* Find some Buick forums. They are a tight group and could help. Tom Rix is a long time Buick racer who ran in IHRA Top Stock. But I have no idea how to get hold of him or where he lives.

* This search shows a pic of a yellow Buick from 1994-1997, but it's a dead link.

Congratulations & good luck!

I think 442OLDS found it!

Wow that's it guys. I can promise you it don't launch that ugly anymore. I did the front and rear suspension all over. It needed some help. Ill check the receipts again but that name looks familiar. Im on the Buick boards but I doubt they would know it. I do talk to a few Buick people that run stock and they have been a huge help. Thanks alot guys!

I'm pretty sure Trent Herche used to bracket race a stocker Buick or Oldsmobile at IRP (now ORP) at Indy back in the 90's - must be some relation to Gary? I don't remember a yellow Buick. I'd bet that Stephensons at least know them, and I'm pretty sure they ran together back then.

From another forum, Chenoweth has a new number, 309-266-5390.

Congrats on the purchase of a cool stocker! At 19? I couldn't afford gas to drive to the track to race my Dad's car at 19! lol!

Good luck!

I believe Larry Hodge and Danny Lehman are neighbors. Find a number for Larry Hodge Racing Tires and he should be able to get you to Danny. Also, Gary Herche is a really nice guy with a ton of Buick information and he's always willing to help.
