Re: AMC Stocker suggestions
There was a Matador wagon from the west coast that ran in U/SA with a 304-2v combo. I believe the owner of that car posts on this site. Bruce Fulper maybe ?

Re: AMC Stocker suggestions
In ss a 1970 360 has a pretty favorable rating currently and any 290 combo is decent.

Re: AMC Stocker suggestions
I admire any racer that tries to take an "odd ball" combo and tries to make it competitive. The problem I see here is finding a suitable body to compete with not a total rust bucket and then trying to find engine components with a vehicle manufacturer that has been out of existence for many years- it makes it very difficult unless you presently have a car and a stash of parts--- go get him but I think you are fighting a major uphill battle from the beginning

Biggest expenses, where you'll need to open the wallet wide, are cylinder heads done by someone competent, that will pass tech and not leave a bunch of ET on the table. Also, valvetrain, torque converter, new wheels and tires Plus maybe 900 small items you don't know you'll need yet. Good luck... Ask your questions here, and not down at the Tastee Freeze. You're at the right place.

304 2 bbl combo is rated at 180, too high and won't compete with the underfactored 2 bbl 302 Fords (same 1.08 motorcraft carb) 77 / 79 258 2 bbl works in V but takes a 3 tenths hit in anything higher. Jim Mantle V/SA 6632 |
