In all areas of the country, there were always the local & regional racers that tried their hand at going against the touring pros and heavy hitters. Who were the racers in your part of the country that ran in Pro Stock but stayed close to home or competed in local circuits?
Heres a few from the NW and the "left coast" back in the day: Photo 1: Ken Tucker's div.6 Vega at Portland, Ore. in '75. Photo 2: Mike Rendell's Pinto from Washington & Gary Coe's Pinto wagon from Oregon in '74 at Seattle. Photo 3: Mardy Maltais' Washington based Vega at Mission B.C. in '74. Photo 4: Lee Hunter's div.7 Pinto against Gapp & Roush "Taxi" at Seattle in '75. Photo 5: Gary Coe again in a Mustang II against Humphrey & Lambeck at Seattle in '80. Photo 6: Gary Pugh's Monza from Washington against Dick Landy's Omni at Seattle in '80. Photo 7: Terry Sherrill's Camaro from div.6, near lane at Seattle, '80. Not sure who the other Camaro in the far lane is. Danny Durham Last edited by Geerhead55; 01-17-2013 at 03:18 AM. |
