I've got quite a bit of experience with all the AMC combos, but the '77 258 is a very affordable build that ran run well without high dollar converters or transmissions or suspensions. The BBD 2bbl carb is very workable , the cam and blueprint specs are very favorable. A smart builder can run more than a couple tenth's under the index with cast Badger pistons , $100 rings ,stock rods and without doing anything to the head but the valvejob. The 232 1 bbl combination is a looser dont waste time or money .
