Brainstorming about my 84 Cutlass in super stock
Help me think through this. I just bought an 84 Cutlass [less engine and trans] that has been running as a stocker. I plan to race it locally in footbrake and the 6.5 & 7.0 index classes.
If I were to build a conservative, 350 super stock engine, with the correct head castings, correct carb, which engine would be capable of 6.40 1/8 ET? I think the car can be as light as 3050 with driver. I know my S-10 with 300/327 and small Holley and 300 horse heads ran 6.55's at 3240 lbs. So, I would need another .15 hun. beyond that. But, at 200 pounds lighter, might do the job. So, would that be a 300/350 with Q-jet? I do not plan to cut or modify the car. It has a 9 x 30 radial and that is all it has room for. The suspension and shocks will be correct as will the converter and 3 speed trans. Last edited by Woodfin; 09-14-2023 at 10:25 PM. Reason: delete |
