Of course, 2005 helmets are good only about half as long as 2010. Other criteria are good snug but not tight fit, size of the window, especially if you wear glasses. The Bell S2r or SR Pro fits my bean. I test fit it at SEMA before buying. Different brands seem to fit different shape heads.

You pay a bit more for an Arai helmet but they have specific styles for different head shapes, will accomodate putting on glasses, lots of venting, and fit snug along the jaw line; which I bet Ken Etter will attest to being really important! I got a chance to see Bill's old demon that Ken had the Fontana accident in...unfriggingbelievable. I ride bikes a lot too and I cringe every time I travel into Kentucky, Florida, etc. where they don't have helmet laws, there is simply no excuse for not having a GOOD helmet.
