Stewart,

Thanks for the information.
If John Rivers got his LO23 Hemi Dart from Van Dyke in late-July 1968,
then he should have one of the last cars, VIN# LO23M8B391***.

Still find it baffling on just how few LO23 Hemi Darts were Michigan-based.

Hard to imagine;
* Hodges Dodge
* Spartan Dodge
* Bill Vreeland Sales
* Tri-City Dodge
* Crestwood Dodge
* Schultz Motors

Missing out in not getting one.

If we are talking about the same car - the red, white and gold Barracuda that Mike Booker had - this is the Southland Flyer car that Joe Teuton Jr raced - it was bought from Ed Miller at the Gatornats (years ago - and no this was not Ed's Original car). The car is originally from NC (not S&M) and Roy Hill also raced it years ago.

I have seen the Johnny Rivers paperwork from VanDyke Dodge and I do not believe that is authentic. I have many copies of Dealer paperwork and they look nothing like this. There was a Johnny Rivers that bought a Dart new from White Bear Dodge though.

Paul,
There was an article in one of the east coast magazines (possibly Cars Illustrated) that had a road test on the then new 69 1/2 6 BBl Superbee that mentions they got a guy named Marshall Gold to do the test driving and that he spent his spare time rowing the shifter on an SS/B Hemi Dart. I contacted Al Kirchenbaum (who wrote the srticle) and he didn't remember this - possible lead on the Manhatten Speed Shop Dart??

Demented dart LO23 and Mr 5 and 50 BO29 for sale at Barrett Jackson 2012. They indicate incorrectly that the dart was the only export car, guess they don't know about the Old Trapper sold new out of Calgary.

Mark,

Still searching on the Marshall Gold connection.
Al Kirchenbaum was Rockville Centre Dodge Performance Car
manager around mid-1969.

I believe he was the 'care-taker' of the 440/6 'press test car', also.

If there is a connection, Marshall Gold could have been
the driver of the Manhattan Speed Parts Dart, or driver of the
Mutt Brothers Dart (ex S & K Dart), or
did Rockville Center Dodge have a LO23,,,,,,,,????
