Thanks Billy,
Hopefully you have inspired a few people to "do it yourself" ,and join the fun here. The converter experience you had reminded me to point this out...You don't have to spend $800 + to get started. Case in point: I had a reader here from NM contact me about a 245 mm converter he bought at a swap meet for $50. It was nothing fancy...just a starting point. I was able to raise the stall up considerably , swap out the stator, and spot weld all the non - furnace brazed fins for a couple of hundred bucks... It would work well for a 302 ,C4 Ford project to get it under the index. Look around, ask around..See what's out there...I don't charge anything to cut a converter open and have a look.

There's a 1977 LTD 2dr coupe with 67k miles at an auction coming up in Ohio if anyone is interested. Says it runs and drives.

It looks like the 1K car might just be making a comeback! It's in the process of getting a new set of headers sized to the 2V 301's little or no RPM potential and it's getting a "dammed" carb that will hopefully work better than the parts-box carb that has been on it. There just might be a few tenths hiding in the old dog still!
