Thanks for the input. As I stated I have always used Dino oils but they just don't measure up for the new standards. It appears there is no new technology in dino oils. I have always used Kendal or Brad Penn and have been very happy with these products. I used the Penn racing oil in my Buicks and will be using this oil in my daily drivers. Thanks again

Nobody's mentioned Shell Rotella 15-40W for GM Diesels. Have used them in all my diesel trucks and never had an issue. Are the newer trucks requiring something different?
Will be looking at Shell Rotella synthetic for the winter. Any other recommendations? This is a 2007 GM Duramax. LBZ motor. Thanks, Mike Last edited by ChevyII; 10-13-2014 at 11:27 PM. |

Not sure on the diesel side but all manufacturers are going to lighter oils for pump ability and deposit issues.

I use Mobil 1 in everything that I run. From the 70's push mower(FIL gave it to me in 1981), the Dixie Chopper rider, my 139K miles 2003 Harley Electra Glide, 2002 GMC Sonoma 150K, 2013 Buick Lacrosse, and of course the 73 Buick Apollo J/SA that had managed to win a few races with my brother at the wheel. My old 1992 Chevy half ton P/U that towed it back and forth across the country with it's 305 that had over 200K+ miles on it with nothing more than two alternator changes.
Check out the videos taken here at Mobil's (ExxonMobil now) research facility. http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...hetic_Oil.aspx Then there was that BMW that we ran for over 1 million miles a few years back with 7,500 mile oil changes. And of course I would recommend Delvac 1 for you diesel fans!
