On my 88 Mustang it isn't for anything. Just a threaded hole that goes nowhere.

Looks like I have a choice of 2.82 or 2.90 gearset in a C4. What would be preferred in this car at nearly 3400 pounds w/driver?

I think the blind hole is for a knock sensor, not sure what year it's used. Mine is a 95 and doesn't have it. At one time I thought the sensor could be used to watch detonation closely to control ignition advance, but I bailed on that.

May be unrelated, but I seem to remember reading at one time Ford used, or was planning to use a sensor running off either the flywheel or rear crank flange to read a signal from. Possibly that is what that hole was for, acsess for a sensor?

I need to purchase a flexplate and have noticed two different configurations for a C4...one with a single step and the other with a dual step. What/why the difference and which do I need?
