Some trial fitting of components shows slight interference between the fuel rails and lower manifold...just a touch with the die grinder will remedy that. As I suspected the rockers will need just a tad more clearance with the stock valve covers...I can either double gasket them or run an aftermarket set I have on hand. The tall covers present even more problems with interference on the upper plenum not to mention the inability to remove either cover without pulling the upper plenum first. I'm thinking stick to the factory pieces.

Keep the factory pieces and clearance the inside of the valve cover. Parts are on the way.

Did you paint or powder coat the valve covers and intake?

Due to looming time constraints and the seemingly lack of C4 cores I bought a race ready C4 from Dynamic Transmission in Conn. It will be a fwd manual valve body, rollerized and equipped with a 2.90 gearset.

Had I known it was going to be such a problem locating a core I would have began my search much earlier. When Arnett told me he had not located one I knew I was in trouble. I'll still get Thomas to build one if a core ever materializes for a spare. All I need now is to get a convertor spec'd by ATI or someone else.

I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but I didn't know that you were in the market for a built C4 instead of just a core.

Ed Horensky who I believe is a member of this site is very, very knowledgable about C4's. I highly recommend that you look him up.

I sent the C4 in my Super Stocker to Dynamic for a rebuild. They did a very nice job, and seemed to have worked out some longstanding problems that I had with the trans brake. They are a good shop, and I'm sure that you'll be happy with them. I still would strongly recommend that you talk to Ed. He has information about many things that will be helpful to you.

I used JPT converters for a long time, but switched to Coan when Jim retired. I'm very pleased with Coan for many reasons. Excellent shop.

Several guys I know switched from other converter builders to Ultimate and picked up. You may want to give them a call, or Coan.

Nothing against ATI, but they would not be my first choice for a C4.

I wasnt in the market for a built trans until recently when I realized a waiting on a suitable core was going to seriously put me behind. I would be interested in other's experiences with different convertors...this is not set in concrete yet.
