74 -77 Hornet ..Looks the same to me. Nobody knows. Nobody cares.
Several guys here are very familiar with this combo. You already got the basic blueprint.
Go..
Mark is correct , the '77 258 IS the best reasonably low dollar combination to build .
I've got quite a bit of experience with all the AMC combos, but the '77 258 is a very affordable build that ran run well without high dollar converters or transmissions or suspensions.

The BBD 2bbl carb is very workable , the cam and blueprint specs are very favorable.
A smart builder can run more than a couple tenth's under the index with cast Badger pistons , $100 rings ,stock rods and without doing anything to the head but the valvejob.
The 232 1 bbl combination is a looser dont waste time or money .

It's okay ..Makes U/SA , which is still a V8 class. Not enough heads-up around to worry about though. All the previous details still apply.

14.85 doesn't seem like it would be too terribly hard to hit. could be underestimating the task though.

You have to be able to run that in the middle of summer. You don't want to leave too much on the table due to budget constraints.
Not fun , nor economical to have to worry about running the index all the time.

I've run 13.90's at U weight in good air, .600 under is not hard to do with a 258 2 bbl 77 or 79 trim in U. I think the 79 pistons more than make up for losing .008 in cam lift.
Ideally find something heavy enough to run V.

didn't there used to be a cam lift rule that allowed all cars under x amount of lift to go use x amount of lift.
