Prayers and positive thoughts heading there way. I have very fond memories of myself and Al battling it out in N/SA in Brainerd. A nicer couple of people will never be found. Al was always encouraging me to keep working on my car and maybe someday I would catch that damn station wagon with my Mustang! When I finally did he was as happy as I was and told me he was proud of me. What a guy. It's people like Al and Bev that made the FAMILY sport what it is.

Alzheimer can be such a debilitating disease. Al was always a very nice man at the races. I can remember one year when I was racing my G/SA Camaro he was so nice and helpful. He could have just left me to my problem 35 yrs ago in the staging lanes with my car not starting, he just jump right in and we found the broken ground wire(kiss principle at work but I forgot all about it in the lanes, he reminded me.lol) Anything I can do to help let me know. Prayers and thoughts are with both.CR

I was just a about 19 years old running a K/SA Olds Cultlas when I met Al. He was such a gentleman giving me tips on the combination. Haven't seen him in 25 years, but I can still remember what a nice guy he was to me and my family.

Best Wishes,
Darin Grossi

I remember when he won Bowling Green with that cool wagon and how he'd be first in line all the time. Always rooted for him because he had the same number as my dad – 3007

I first met Al and Bev at Tri City Dragway in Saginaw Michigan, AL was racing the
Blue Tick 59 Chevy. I had a car that ran the same class, back then we raced class
every Saturday nite. We had sort of a rivalry at first, He beat me every week.
I dont' know if I ever beat AL, he was a little older and a lot smarter than I was.
Evenually we both moved to different classes and ended up being really good friends.
Over the years we raced the same races, camped together just had a.good time.
I did a lot of machine work for Al and the best part was, he would pick up his engine
drive home , call me 3hrs later, he had it in the car and running.AL is a one of a kind
guy, a hustler, a hard worker, a positive thinker, and all a round nice guy. My thoughts
and prayers to AL and Bev

The one and only time I met Al was at the ‘82 Summernationals at E-town. He pulled into the staging lanes right behind me for one of our qualifying runs. Gets out of his car and walks up to me starting a conversation like he’d known me for years. Will never forget how pleasant and friendly he was.
