X/S was a 23 lb class until NHRA eliminated X,Y,Z in 1983 to make room for the FWD cars. In 1978 Stan Welch (Hobby Horse ?) set the X/S record at 15.25 and I think won the Gators one year. Or, it may have been Dan Rockwell.

Tom Reider was a Design Engineer at Ford. He and Mel Wallace, a Mechanical Engineer at Ford, formed the Reider and Wallace race team .
