The demographic breakdown of infections and deaths from the novel coronavirus in New York City mirrors patterns that have emerged around the nation and the world, epidemiologists say, with the elderly, men and some racial minorities among the disease’s most vulnerable victims.

New York state accounts for nearly a third of the nation’s 683,786 cases as of Friday afternoon, according to Johns Hopkins University, which has been tracking the virus. The state has reported 222,284 positive cases and 12,192 deaths.

As per the WSJ

now what is the population of NYC vs the rest of the nation. I was in and out of NYC 3/4 weeks before the shutdown, there is no evidence it has anything to do with our subway system or not driving. Heck i took the train 12 years straight and never got the flu, i have many friends who were on the subway up until the shutdown who are perfectly fine.

And just because its a case doesnt mean death, its like being sick unless you have past illnesses or in bad shape. My grand father is 93 years old and functioning fine.

When this is over it will be proven that shutting down did nothing and if you were healthy you should be out living your life. If you are not healthy or over 65/70 stay home. With the amount of people who they think had the virus know one knows if it just showed up one day in February or March. Open the country and lets live like we are suppose to, if you cant due to health or age then stay home till you feel its right to leave your house. Mental, suicidal, and other deaths will be higher than corona if we sit like this any longer.

You make too many assumptions with nothing but zip and pip. You were in town 3 or 4 weeks before the outbreak and everything was fine, heck you even rode the subway for ten years and never got a bug. That sounds so reassuring when the best medical minds in this country can't figure out this monster. Young men and women are dying from stroke and heart attacks from this virus. It is now attacking other bodily organs and killing people. But you rode the subway. I feel much better now.
