OK so what you are saying the governor of NY and mayor of the city did not do enough to help protect the city? They did not shut down the subway and other mass transit where social distance could not be maintained. I have never been to or plan to go the NYC.

Sorry. I just assumed you were stating that the subways were still in use during the stay at home order in NYC. Do you know if that was the case? You seemed to allude to the fact that the subway was part of the problem there with transmission of the virus because people are packed in there like sardines..

Ok, since we’re not getting much traction talking racing on any thread I’ll throw in my one and only subway story. We stopped in the Boston area on our RV trip last summer. We were en route to PEI with our grandson and he and I took a mid-morning subway ride into Boston Common so he could appreciate the area’s history and get another junior ranger badge. After several hours enjoying the city we went to board the subway around 5:00 PM. You guessed it, jam packed beyond anything I’d ever experienced in Asia, Europe and certainly here in the states. I’ve never been so pressed against others, all nationalities, sexes (think there were more than two) and you’d think at the next stop no one else would be able to board but sure enough more would cram in every time. Must have been 8 or 9 stops before it started to thin out. I’ve read that commuting into large cities is going to be a major hurdle getting everyone back to work and I certainly believe it, no matter how you feel about the pandemic it’s sure going to be a game-changer just like 9/11. Historians are going to have a lot of material to cover just in the last 10 years.
