CAN WE PLEASE LEAVE POLITICAL BS OFF THIS THREAD??!!!! Some of us, a small percentage of us are still in our 30’s, we still have years and years of drag racing in front of us. If NHRA folds, you may hate them, but that would be a BIG problem for us that want to do this for a long time ahead of us. I understand many of you are nearing the age of leaving the sport and could care less of the greedy machine that is NHRA, but remember when you were in your 30’s and were afforded a place to go race safely ..... back in the good ol days. Well like or not NHRA is the only sanctioning body in town that has classracers and that gives us exposure to maybe pick up a sponsor to help fund this insane hobby.
If Marcus Lemonis wants to give his money to NHRA and keep the sport thriving, I could care two sh*** what he said or how he feels. Camping world is a decent place to buy RV parts and let’s face it, a national event with 200 or so RV’s would be a marketing goldmine.

Yeah, I may be old, but as long as I'm still breathing I'll care about Drag Racing, so please don't count me (or any of the other passionate seniors) out just yet! Thanks!
I've been a supported of Camping World (and the Good Sam Club) since the Bowling Green location let us use their parking lot as overflow for the WWCS event at Beech Bend in 1977! I've never owned an RV. I have always believed that you have to support the people who support you, plain and simple. Without that, they aren't going to be around long. I gave up smoking Marlboro's and started using Winston's when they sponsored our races, and Lucas Oil Products lubricate my fleet! I even started drinking Mello Yello, when I could find it! Maybe now would be a good time to cultivate some "non-Automotive" sponsors on the National Level for 2021?

I totally agree with you he may not be liked in the camping community (I don’t think he’s spent a night in an RV in his life lol), but like Lew said above maybe it’s time to branch out and look at some non traditional sponsors. In this pandemic time, dollars are hard to come by. NHRA needs a title sponsor to survive, a sponsor that believes in what the foundation of drag racing is .

It does matter what happens with the overall title sponsor. If NHRA goes bankrupt, do you really think Lucas Oil wants to be associated with them? Yeah, not much of the money from Coke trickles down to the sportsman but if the upper echelon fails, so does the whole company! NHRA failing does none of us any good.
I could care less of what Camping World's owners has to say about politics. If we boycotted every company because of their political contributions or affiliations, we would not have much to eat, drink or drive! As long as he is throwing his $'s toward NHRA and keeping it afloat, then we have additional places to race. |

Why is it that when Tom Compton tried to "sell off" the pro series of the NHRA most of the NHRA Sportsman people (including Tech people) I spoke to thought it was a good thing and now the Sportsmen can't wipe their own butts without the pros? We are the only part of the organization that can even remotely come close to supporting ourselves.

The bottom line is that we NEED the NHRA to have sponsorship. I hear all of the talk about forming new organizations, but I don't see discussion about how the insurance, safety crew, tech crew, track crew, administrative team, etc. will be financed......... |

Yes pretty much every major corporation has some participation in politics, and have been since the government decided to treat corporations like people and Citizen's United opened the flood gates to "dark money" contributions to Super PAC's! No "getting the toothpaste back in the tube" now!
