There are lots of racing components for those transmissions and there is even a racing guidebook that was published by GM Racing. You can download the manual from the link shown below. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2Tw...ZIZ25BUmM/edit |

Re: 2008-9 Impala 5.3
There used to be some HiPo parts available when GM was supporting the Sports Compact program . That was a long time ago , and there are none of Engineers that used to work in that group left working at GM .

A lot of the components were also made by Coan for John Lingenfelter (RIP). Intense Racing, which does a lot of 3.8 SC stuff, has a lot of parts for the transaxle for high HP applications.

Re: 2008-9 Impala 5.3
A special version of the 4L65 was built for Volvo , before Ford bought them . It had the highest sprocket ratio and Final Drive ratio . Also had the heat treated 4th clutch shaft . Those parts would be a good upgrade for drag racing , although you probably won't ever get into 4th gear . One thing for sure is to get some high torque half shafts . There may be aftermarket help for that .

Re: 2008-9 Impala 5.3
Yes, 5.3 SS in 2008-2009 that I remember. Used to rent one from El Paso airport and bracket race it, 15.1 - .20 at 3800+ altitude and hot weather. Always wanted to race one at lower altitudes. You could cut great lights and it was consistent. Plus ABS, which I needed.
