I would suggest building the 302 2 barrel.
Not because it's the best combination, but because it's the most economical way to get your feet wet in Class Racing and you can bracket race it all day long.
You will be able to get 400-500 passes on it with no issues.
Then decide after a season or two, what direction to go.
Ford 2 barrel, best guy is Brian Seaburg, #1 at Indy this year with a 302 2 barrel. Don't know if he does them for others.
