At the Rte 66 event, racers must have withdrawn at the last moment, not allowing people to enter before the cut off time.

Dyno, that's exactly what happened. A lot of times it's the same people.
NHRA has to back up withdrawal dates by a week, or forfeiture of entry fee. A few less Racer's get to enjoy the event, but next year when they assign quotas, we will hear, well Stock and Super Stock didn't even fill last year. And before the replies start, NO, I'm not putting ideas in NHRA's head about how to keep more of our money. They thought of this a long time ago, just thought they would get too much pushback on it. I was just looking at NMCA'S website, membership dues, entry fee, payout, etc. looks good.
Maybe someday they can expand their territory...

I have given up on NHRA national events, the amount of time and money you need to spend to get 8 or 9 grade points is just too much, and you need that many to even try to get in one.
