When you make Stock closely resemble other classes, NHRA is going to decide to just "roll" Stock into something else.

In case you haven't noticed, people like Dave Ley, Redman, and others, who have long been our friends, who loved us, and our class, are being pushed out. NHRA doesn't want them, because they really don't want Stock, or Super Stock, for that matter. Who's next? Travis Miller?

Some of you people better stop dreaming, wake up, and realize, you're going to get what you asked for, because what you're really asking for is the end of Stock Eliminator.
Lots to digest in this post. For perspective, we've put a "mule" engine in our Stocker this year and are racing in PRO category. We wanted to focus on improving our race operations and logistics without wearing out the Stocker engine. To our surprise, we're having just as much fun, and the competition is every bit as fierce as Stock.

Maybe you have to decide if you love drag racing or just the machinations of Stock Eliminator.

The entire point of Stock and Super Stock is to choose what you believe is a competitive combination that you like, and attempt to out work and out think your competition to be faster.

The bracket racing component of the classes came later, to "save them from possible extinction".

The hard core people in the classes still seek to choose a competitive combination that they like, and try to be at least among the fastest, if not the fastest, in their respective class.

That's great, but if you combine the both you have a much richer and satisfying experience.
