I did some more research and found the following:

Wow. I remember Manhattan Speed. They were in my neighborhood. I knew the shop owners very well, but never seen that car.
There was a 60's Cuda that was running with Ronnie Lyles and the Mutt Brothers though. It was lightened to the max. Not sure if that may be the car.

I took my car through many evolutions, many of them experimental. An easy way to see the last version is the hood scoop. A small snorkle scoop was used for a couple of years. With the huge torque of the engine, traction became a problem at some of the non-NHRA tracks. Soooo.....I moved the engine back ten inches. This required a snorkle scoop that went right up to the windshield. Hence you can tell the difference.

Great news Daryl, I hope you find out if it's THE car for certain, and if it is......a cause for celebration!

Oh yeah! There is going to be a P-A-R-T-Y when this all gets resolved !

And because we are all spread out across the world waiting for the news.....several "partys and celebrations" would be more truthful.

Liteweight,
You have no idea how many people (racers) religiously check this thread everyday hoping that you find the history on your car. It beats the heck out of reality TV.
The evidence looks pretty compelling to me.

See you at the races,

Good luck, Daryl. I hope this one pans out. Like many,, I've been watching since day 1 on this "journey". I clicked onto Bob Snyder's wonderful site when the link went up and spent a couple hours going through the pics,,, saw the other Darts, but I've got to admit, I missed this one in the background that you picked out. When you pointed out the dent and the repair,, it gave me chills,,, I imagine you probably wet the floor! Just be assured, we're probably not holding our breath,,but theres a bunch of us out here with our fingers crossed, truly hoping you've found the missing link you're looking for.

Totally not thread related, but I needed to vent. It's March 1........... And we're still buried in mountains of snow. Current temperature -36. The high today will be -27 with windchill values making it feel like -49. Low tonght -31
WTF..... enough already, no more, no more. The boat show is this weekend. Even this climatized Canadian has had enough. 3 months straight of consistant snow & brutal cold

I sell real estate down here.
Come on down!
Seriously, do you ever hear of anyone that retires and moves "north"?
Beaches, all kinds of year round festivals, casinos and of course, Crusin' the Coast had over 7000 registered cars last year. Drag strips everywhere. Great seafood all year.
And its sunny and headed to the 60's (make that 70's) today!

Torture, isn't it?
