I remember a finish line interview when Glidden was in Motorcraft red.
After winning the event (yet again) he told the announcer "These are our good old days. One day it will end and this is what we will look back on". What a legacy he left behind. |

Dick Landy had a lot of nice race cars over the years, but I've always liked this paint job the best on his Pro Stock Challenger & Dart because it was very unique for the times.

Oh yeah, Buddy Ingersol's Buick was badass! This car was a crystal ball vision into the future of drag racing, but ironically not the future of Pro Stock. I believe that this car was the forerunner of todays Outlaw and possibly even Pro Modified classes.
The sanctioning bodies did all that they could to hold Buddy back and ultimately terminated this car from competition at a time when anyone could walk into a Buick dealership and buy a rear wheel drive Regal with a turbocharged V-6 ...no one could buy a Boss HEMI powered T-Bird from a Ford dealership or a big block Camaro from a Chevy dealer at that time. |
