79 Malibu Engine?
Looking at getting a 79 Malibu, and trying to find out what engine combos you can run in it in NHRA stock.

Re: 79 Malibu Engine?
If you want to run NHRA you can run a V6 or a dish piston 305 or a 267...unless your talking a wagon then you can run a 350 too.

Re: 79 Malibu Engine?
What wpuld you have to run as far as transmission and rear end, my malibu has been a bracket car its entore lofe since it was bought off of the showroom floor, looking into maybe making it stock or SS legal so i could run those classes ontoo of regular bracket racing.

Re: 79 Malibu Engine?
If you run stock you have to keep the transmission and rear end manufacturers compliant. Most would run say a turbo 350 or metric 200 and a 12 bolt rear. Super stock you could run a 9 inch rear of you chose to.

Re: 79 Malibu Engine?
If budget is not a problem I would order a complete dyno tuned 305. Gonna need about 375 hp to start. Dean Oliver would be the guy I would call since he can run real fast.
