These were cute little cars with the original small blocks back in the day...then they were turned into Monsters with big blocks added to them!

Approximately 300 of the 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone's were built
with the 289/225 HP 'Super Cyclone'. 1965 NHRA Class = F/Stock Very nice street cars. |

Back in 1965 one of my friends bought one with the 271hp and ordered the Ford Tri-Power which actually came completely assembled and ready to bolt on, it was a quick car on the street.

#2994 lbs.
The fiberglass hood option, saved about an additional 35 lbs. of 'nose weight'. In 1965, NHRA Classes * 289/200 HP = G/Stock * 289/225 HP = F/Stock * 289/271 HP = D/Stock Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 12-06-2012 at 10:23 PM. |

My Dad had a 65 Comet with the 200cuin 6...
Got great mileage. Brakes were ok. It was a nice car..learned to drive in it. BTW what class do they run today with NHRA and IHRA? D |
