Default "Live From" Virginia NHRA Nationals

Hey guys, we are here at VMP for the Virginia NHRA Nationals. A week off from Bristol, and we hit the road again. Weather looks good as far as rain is concerned, but it will be hot this week.

Stacking will be on the entrance road in the two right lanes going into the track, not the grass field like last year. Parking is Thursday, I'll be back tomorrow with part 2.

Good morning folks, or should I say good afternoon as its almost noon time. Its hot, temps are already in upper 80's but no rain. We might have a shower later this evening, but the rest of the week is clear, but hot.

I did get a great shady spot to park under. Parking was quick and smooth. There are plenty of spots to choose from. Hats off to the parking crew, they were done in about 45 minutes. I guess it helps that we are light with the car count. 3 qualifiers tomorrow along with first round. 9am start time with Stock out first.

I'll be back later with photos from the pits.

Well guys, I have to admit it does not feel like a Nation event. The Sportsman pits are scattered everywhere, it kind of looks like an an Open race. The Pro's are filling up but the Sportsman pits look empty compared to other National events.

We have some heavy rain moving through right now, but it should end soon. As I said in my last post the rest of the race should be clear, but hot.

I did find a few cars out. Also, I made a mistake for tomorrows start time... Stock out first at 10AM.

Well the rains came through, and boy did it come down. It lasted about 20 minutes, but the wind gusts that lasted about 5 minutes... well you can see what damage was done. Small awnings were everywhere if you did not tie them down. Even some big awnings could not handle the 40 to 50 mph gusts.

Thanks for all the photos and the rolling in videos.

Look like some intense winds, hope all are safe and no injuries to anyone or damage to any cars.

Gotta say, I am an old school car guy. I have seen pictures of that car before.

What's not to like about Bob's 57?? First, it's a 2 dr wagon. Second dual quads and being raced in S/S. Love the look and stance of the car. Beyond cool

Hey guys, we are moving right along. Stock and Super Stock are already done with 2 qualifiers, and getting a 3rd if you want it. Super Gas is up now with their 2nd shot. They just called Stock for their 3rd qualifier.

The weather is almost perfect today, the track looks to be in good shape. Round 1 after Pro Mod, FX and Top Fuel Bikes.
