You do understand the the term "running over someone" refers to wrecking them/ spinning them out? NOT actually running over them such as what happened here. And as far as that comment goes. I myself (I am sure many others as well) have said something when I was pissed off that I did not really mean. Its not fair to compare one incident with another.

I agree Ed. Sad but true about the lawyers. Gonna be a tough case to win, if it goes to court. I mean it was no doubt an accident. Lawyers have to prove otherwise.

So a question to those blaming Tony, what exactly happened there that would have Tony po'd? Was it that the driver behind him got into the cushion and wrecked himself? Was it that that same driver unbuckled himself and stepped onto a hot track? None of this was Tonys fault. The young man made some poor choices while not stopping to think of the danger he put himself in. Now his family must deal with the tragic loss of his life. We have all done things in our younger days that now we say what was I thinking and thankfully most of us escaped with no permanent consequences. No doubt you will see an across the board rule in all sanctioning bodies stating no driver is allowed to leave their car until safety workers arrive unless the car is on fire..

I absolutely understand that. Just as I suspect you absolutely understand that video of that statement as well as others of him that are readily available will likely be used against him in a wrongful death lawsuit, and it won't end well($$$).

I want to make it clear, I don't have the slightest thought he intended to do this, I'm only commenting that his previous hotheadedness is now going to be a problem for him.

I will just say - how many of you have ever driven a direct drive car with no flywheel or clutch or starter?

Wise up - you can not put the clutch in and roll to a stop - you have to shut it off - One thing some of the local friends like is they get to be push cars.

During a yellow they are probably still going 50 mph.

TS could not see him because the car in front of him nearly hit him.

He gassed it to spin away from him - watch the video and look at where TS front tires are pointed

Don't get out of your car until the safety crew gets there - especially in a sprint car race where THEY DO NOT STOP the cars unless there is a terrible accident - this was not a terrible accident until the idiot got killed.

If you have not worn one of those helmets with several tear-offs on the visor, and lights shining at you from the outside of the track, and see a driver dumb enough to wear a black fire suit at a night race, next to a black car, that is asking to get your tail run over. The driver's vision is not that great under those conditions. Those cars do not mauever like a car on pavement with a differential. They will not stop on a dime, on dirt. The brakes are configured to "set" the car on entry when running the bottom, not stop it suddenly.

That kid was dumb enough to get out of the car and throw a tantrum like a two year old, stepping in front of a car going about 40 MPH, instead of acting like a man and going to talk to Stewart after the race. Well, I'm sorry, but he asked for it. It is really sad that he died from his idiotic antics. No rational person is going to think that even Tony Stewart would run over somebody on purpose.

X's 1000. I sent a comment to all of Fox News about this in almost the same wording. The reason Ward died is 100% his own fault. These news people don't know their azz from a hole in the ground.

This is what happens when you let your temper override common sense. Most who have done it at one time or another got away with it. Unfortunately this kid is one of the few who did not. I feel bad for everyone involved. But ever since the first helmet was thrown on national TV at a race many years ago. Everyone from the peons to the pros wants to get out of the car and act like their a bad *** standing on the track while the cars go around under caution. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Hopefully some other driver learns a lesson from all this.
