Re: Rear gear
If some is good, more is better
if more is too much, then its just right. And the secret to going fast: Buy it, try it, then put it on the shelf. |

Re: Rear gear
It's like a dyno test session. When your all said and done, you found out what doesn't work.

Re: Rear gear
I always thought it was "If some is good, more is better and too much is just right!" Applies especially to camshaft duration and carburetion.

Garley Daniels once told me with a small block RPMs are your friend.

Re: Rear gear
And if you never touch it, it will run just like it did last week.

Re: Rear gear
You guys are hilarious, brutal, but hilarious.
To answer the question can you? Sure. The question is, is it still pulling hard at 6000 or has it already nosed over? If it pulls hard to 7000, then get a gear to go through the traps at 7000. If it noses over and stops pulling (or the rate of acceleration is slower) at say 6000 then no, it will slow down or not be any better with a lower gear. I think everyone here (me included) thinks a 2000 Camaro will pull well past 6000 so yes a lower gear will benefit you. How much? Buy and try or...dyno and see where the peak is and gear accordingly. |
