Note that the 69 318 is at 172, same specs as 73. A 69 charger can run R, T and U.

Nowhere in a dime thread can you squeeze a 69 Charger, sorry you just can’t, it’s plum immoral. Have always been intrigued by these cheaper slow rollers (if you watched Warren’s excellent show from the Vegas LODRS race and didn’t find yourself rooting for Ellam’s Pinto then you shouldn’t be looking at this thread) and the thought of squeezing in a little Escort stocker in place of a golf cart is starting my wheels turning.

Before I had decided on building my Camaro, I had tossed around putting together an ‘83 Monte Carlo 305 small Cam dish piston combo together for N/SA. No roll- bar required. Only went with the Camaro because of the cost. The Camaro already had an 8.5 rear and would have had to locate one for a Monte due to it’s only 7.5 plus I located a Camaro body fairly easy.

A combo that may be competitive if it was in the guide would be a 2000 explorer with the 5.0. Factory rated at 215hp and 4,200 pound shipping weight puts it at 19.5. The gt40p heads are WAY better than any production small block ford head out of the box, and the intakes are very desirable among the 5.0 community. The camshaft lift may be low at .422/.448, but other small cam 302 combinations have made good power before. If anything it would be a good engine for GT.
