So far this season, the only thing the new AHFS has accomplished is getting racers to slow their cars down and bank a bunch of -.65 to -.85 under runs. Cars with 10* ignition timing removed are leaving the line like turds. -.91 makes you number 1 qualifier! Fans want to see wheelstands and performance. This new system makes stock eliminator about as exciting as throttle stop .90 classes. But hey, equity in outcomes over equal opportunity is the new thing I guess.

Where does the balance for a racer come in? Is it better to preserve your HP combo, especially if it's already pretty soft, and not be able to cut a light or run consistently because of no timing and restrictor or part throttle limiters. Or... are you better off running as you always did, even if you take a 4-6 HP hit but are able to hit the tree and predict your ET better?
I don't understand why so many want to shave a tenth off everybodys index but are so afraid to shave .05 off their own combo? If you aren't willing to take a trigger or hit for Qualifying, or a heads up that's not a final, or a Class runoff etc. then when are you saving it for? To run fast at an open or combo race? Some of these combos are obviously soft some are beaten up and some are just right.
